The shadow of the show. Moving around the circus, the show, can be an endless path, like the infinite points that make up a circumference. Backstage is all dressing rooms, wardrobes, alternating sets. A dynamic, orderly, and chaotic balance, rhythmically punctuated by blades of light and shadow, which serves the show by creating its private alter ego.
“Backstage,” the artists show themselves stripped of makeup, sweaty, serious and smiling, smoking while waiting for a costume or scene change. There is a frenzied time, sometimes urgent and very fast, other times sighed and slow: the pauses of a musical piece, the dead times of a dance. The circus scene machinery is small, and the spaces and contrasts are minute.
Circo Paniko is one of the first and largest contemporary circus companies born in Italy in 2009. It consists of about thirty free artists and thinkers who combine circus techniques, theater, dance, illusionism, and live music. Admission to the show is free, while the exit is by voluntary and conscious donation: its value is decided by each individual spectator.
More than a company, Circo Paniko defines itself as a collective with a horizontal internal structure, without leaders or hierarchies, based on shared decision-making and confrontation. It is a light, human engine, almost “transpiring,” a delicate origami born of a strong passion, a rotating balance between effort and pleasure, play and seriousness, dream and reality. A duality that, chasing itself, creates a circle.

L’ombra dello spettacolo. Girare intorno al circo, allo spettacolo, può essere un percorso infinito come infiniti sono i punti che compongono una circonferenza. Intorno alle quinte è tutto un camerino, un armadio, un alternarsi di scenografie. Un equilibrio dinamico, ordinatissimo e caotico insieme, ritmato da lame di luce e ombra, che serve lo spettacolo creando un suo alter ego privato.
“Nell’intorno alle quinte” gli artisti si mostrano struccati, sudati, seri e ridenti, fumanti in attesa del cambio di abito o di scena, si respira un tempo folle, a volte urgente e velocissimo, altre volte sospirato e lento, le pause di un brano musicale, i tempi morti di una danza, la macchina scenica circense è minuta, minuti sono gli spazi ed i contrasti,
Circo Paniko è una delle prime e più numerose compagnie di Circo Contemporaneo nate in Italia nel 2009. Una trentina di liberi artisti e pensatori. Fonde tecniche circensi, teatro, danza, illusionismo. musica dal vivo, L’ingresso allo spettacolo e’ libero mentre l’ uscita e’ a offerta libera e consapevole il suo valore viene deciso da ogni singolo spettatore.
Più che una compagnia, si definisce collettivo con una struttura interna orizzontale, priva di dirigenti o gerarchie, si basa sul confronto e la decisione condivisa.
E’ un motore leggero, umano, quasi “traspirante”, un origami delicatissimo che nasce da una passione fortissima, da un equilibrio rotante tra fatica e piacere, gioco e serietà, sogno e realtà un dualismo che rincorrendosi crea un cerchio.
